What Parents should ask parents?
Over the fathers day weekend my staff were talking at the barbecue we, had about what questions parents should ask the parents of the children there kids are going to visit, or play:
It should be mandatory, if your child is visiting a friends home to ask this question: Are they any unsecured firearms in your home? Firearms need to be locked in a very secure container, so that that no one can gain access to them. By asking this extremely valuable question, it could save the life of your children, and their playmates. Not only this question, but all children should be taught the protocol if a firearm is found. 1. Do not touch it, 2.Leave the area, 3. Tell a known trusted adult, not just anyone. 4 Call the police.
Your children should know the 4 Firearms safety rules:
1. ALL GUNS ARE CONSIDERED LOADED
2.KEEP THE GUN POINTED POINTED IN THE SAFEST DIRECTION
3. KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER
4. KEEP THE GUN UNLOADED UNTIL READY TO USE
On a daily basis we continuously correct adults who have only passed the Calif 30 question test bought a firearm, with zero hands on experience. These are adults not children
It takes repetition over and over to get this to sink in to the minds of human beings. We encourage you to take this to heart, and tell every adult you know about this.
